About the Entrepreneurial Diversity Project
The project on enterprise and diversity explores the impact of immigration and the intersectionality of nationality, culture, and faith on entrepreneur and their projects. It delves into how these factors shape individuals' sense of Being, Belonging, and Becoming in a new environment. By examining the actions and experiences of immigrants, the project seeks to understand the challenges they face and the contributions of their project to feel part of their communities. Through this exploration, the project aims to promote a greater understanding of the diverse backgrounds and identities that enrich our society. By embracing and celebrating these differences, we can create a more inclusive and welcoming environment for all. This project encourages dialogue and collaboration to foster a stronger sense of unity and acceptance among people from all walks of life.
Enterprise
Oxford dictionary defines enterprise as a project or undertaking, especially a bold or complex one. This definition is perhaps how most people would think of enterprise. In most conceptualizations of entrepreneurship, it involves creating value thereby having a positive effect in society. Enterprise also refers to opportunity recognition that would have business or social value. There are many factors that affect an enterprise's success. The personal characteristics and contextual factors are fundamental to an enterprise. However, the contextual response to an enterprise is the most contributing factor to the success of an enterprise. For people who are considered in their own context as a minority, the challenges are different and potentially more complex.
Migration as a manifest of Diversity
The concept of diversity has evolved to encompass a wide range of differences and variety, including ethnicity, culture, faith, gender orientation, and identity. Migration has historically been a key factor in recognizing this diversity, as it involves moving from one place to another for various reasons. While migration initially involves a geographical change, it also brings about many other changes before, during, and after the move. In today's complex world, diversity extends beyond traditional notions of ethnicity and culture to include various aspects of human characteristics and behaviors. This broadened understanding of diversity highlights the rich complexity of human society and the importance of acknowledging and celebrating the myriad differences that make up our global community. Migration, whether voluntary or forced, is a complex phenomenon that brings about various changes, both profound and superficial, in individuals and their surroundings. While some view migrants as a potential threat to society and the economy, others recognize the positive impact they can have on different aspects of the host city or country. It is important to consider the unique contributions that migrants bring, such as cultural diversity, new perspectives, and valuable skills that can enrich the social and economic fabric of their new communities. By understanding and embracing the potential benefits of migration, we can create more inclusive and thriving societies for everyone involved.
